Shutter Hardware - Decoder
Why bore you with our numbering minutiae? We offer a variety of styles, lengths and offsets to make sure every shutter works. This numbering system helps you order the correct parts. We are always there to help, and sometimes it is easier if we both speak the same “language.” (A printable version is available upon request)

Length
Length is the amount of hinge in contact with the shutter.
Length is measured differently depending on if the hinge has an offset
For 0” offset hinges we allow 1 ½” clearance from the center of the barrel to clear the pintle mounting plate.
0 offset hinge
For hinges with an offset the length measurement begins after the bend.

Hinge with offset
End treatment
This only applies to hinges with 0” offset. The barrel is replaced with a pin, requiring a notch for clearance, hence the name “Notched”. Now the hinge is the male part and the pintle the female. This style requires a unique pintle and is specific to a side of the window. The side specified is always looking at the window from the outside of the house.
Now the part number looks like this
Style-Width-Length-N(Side)
(700-N-12-NR)

Pintle Decoder
The part numbers for pintles are unique according to their design, so the decoders are different
